Adi Ultra
Need help building first budget gaming PC, please.?

These are the specs so far:

ASUS M2N-E AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

XFX GeForce 8600GTS 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported HDCP Video Card

COOLER MASTER eXtreme RP-500-PCAR ATX from factor 12V V2.01 500W Power Supply

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor

I will use this PC primarily to play some games and do home recording for a full band (I heard the ADI onboard sound was good.) I like running games on high settings, but I'm not interested in running Crysis on high, or at all for that matter.

I have a hard drive and case, already, but there's another question. The hard drive is already in use and has an OS on it, so can I just move it over to this new board without issue? (No OS disk, was never given one.)

I listed the parts alternative through newegg, just in case you needed to compare prices. One thing is you will need a 600W Powersupply with your system. One thing I have been looking at for myself is the fact that the 6000+ uses 125W of power all the time. A 5600+ uses only 89W and is just as fast. Actually I am looking at going Brisbane because of the 65W usage. That way you could still get by with a smaller powersupply and save some money on it and the processor...
