Is muay thai or jiu jitsu better for a bar fight?
Royce Gracie came and shocked the world with his jiu jitsu in UFC, but if more then one person is involved (multiple people fighting) and a hard cement floor to do submissions on, wouldn't muay thai be better for a bar fight?
I'm doing MMA and have 5 years wrestling, 2 years jiu jitsu, and a few years of striking. Am just curious because I only have time to practice grappling or striking at the moment, and am wondering which one is more practical in a bar fight or any other real life situation.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has guidance and rules you have to obey. Elsewise, you get a suspension or cut from the organization. Muay Thai is a deadly sport, and if you get into a brawl, if used properly, your opponent will nearly be killed. Muay Thai is all about clinch utilization, elbows, and knee's. The most underused objective in Muay Thai is the elbow, I see constant tie-ups and I never see elbows, just foot stomps and pillow-punches.
Also, never really seen this but I tried it in sparring the other day and it worked GREAT!
Once you get clinch control, flex your arms to the right side and leave them in the aligned place they are, then quickly move to the left side, pivot your left foot and jump and throw that right kick, be sure to let the head go a split second before you do this.
