I need to wear a gum shield for rugby, but I have fixed braces!?
I need to buy a new gum shield (gum guard) for Thursday because I have rugby
Only problem is, I have fixed braces!!
Will I still be able to wear a gum shield?
Shock Doctor do a gumshield for fixed braces. I wore this for 2 years while I had my braces on.
No point in splashing out for a dentist made one when you will have your braces removed at some point.
Although fitted mouthguards can be more comfortable, and probably give better protection to your teeth, I have found that the cushioning in a Shock Doctor mouthguard is far superior to that of a dentist made mouthguard due to the gel in them. This helps to reduce head injuries, and I am certain that my Shock Doctor mouthguard prevented me from becoming concussed at the beginning of the season 2 years ago.

Some orthodontists sell these mouthguards and they can be found in most good sports shops.
