The USA and Mexico work enough to beat the drug cartels?

The problem affects both the USA and Mexico, do you think they should work together in a more serious way???

Just a bunch of minutemen nutters patrolling the borders is not enough, they should reach the core of the problem in a joint effort. Why so many American soldiers in Iraq while there's so many problems in the Mexican border?

I think that the problem is that in Mexico there is a lot of corruption. It's a corrupt system. It's sad cause even when the police try to do the right thing, they become subject to corruption.

Example: A friend of mine was pulled over for speeding. He was going WAAY over the speed limit. He offered the policeman a bribe to forget about the ticket. In many cases the policemen would ask for this, but this time the policeman said no. He said no, you have to pay the fine, you were driving too fast, and you need to be punished for your offense. My friend called his friend's father who was a high ranking policeman. The friend's father called the other policeman (who he didnt know) and forced him to accept the bribe and let my friend go. Was this fair? of course not! I was really mad at my friend for not owing up to his crime and upset that a fair policeman was forced to be corrupt.

I believe that something similiar happens with the drug cartels. Even if everyone tries to work against the drug cartels, there may be a few people who are still corrupt and are still impeding the process. It's difficult to find them and eliminate them. It's not a question of guns and soldiers. I hope things change soon. I can tell that things are beginning to change in Mexico, but change happens slowly. Some policemen get paid very little, so it is easy for them to become bitter and get corrupt. Maybe the mexican police could be paid more? Then maybe they wouldnt feel like they had to compensate for not earning by being corrupt. I dont know. That's probably not the answer, but I hope we find one soon!
